Crisis Averter can be installed as a stand-alone software application without the need for a physical security system or it can integrate with either the Gallagher or the Lenel OnGuard security systems.
Standard alarms are provided by default, however the software installation process allows alarm button labels to be customized and alarm text to be changed to better represent the security requirements at each site (for example, ‘Evacuation’ may be deemed more important than one of the three default levels).
When an incident arises and a staff member clicks the appropriate alarm notification button this is indicated by a flashing red light next to the level of alarm they have triggered. Crisis Averter will report the person logged onto the computer and the location of the alarm within the Alarm Monitor window on a designated security responder’s computer and notify the alarm to the security system if the organization has one. Optionally, the system can also send email notifications to a range of responders as well as to mobile phones, and can be configured with a security system to trigger a physical relay to automatically secure doors, turn off lights or trigger an alarm siren.
When the security operator marks the alarm as Responding, its state in the Crisis Averter Client will change from flashing red to solid orange signifying to the alarm initiator that the appropriate response to the event is occurring. At any time the alarm initiator is able to clear the alarm if the incident is over by using the right mouse restore function. Safety response protocols can also be shown on-screen to instruct staff what to do in response to the emergency (e.g. in combination with a school colour card/placard scheme) or can provide personnel attendance lists etc.
Because Crisis Averter provides a security notification and response process discretely via computer, there is no need for notification of an incident and relevant instructions to be called out on a PA or by siren/bell, or the need for personnel other than emergency services to move around the building or campus whilst an incident is in progress.
