Integrated security solutions including Personnel Movement Control System

RedCrater provided a group of software modules for a prison redevelopment project to support a fully integrated security management platform that is based around the Facility Commander Wnx security system. This includes integration with a biometrics system, fully customised video and alarm display, alarm and video integration with the Bosch Security Escort, an alarm interface with the Austco Intercom platform, an SNMP monitoring module and a Personnel Movement Control System (PMCS). These combined solutions ensure all key aspects of security operations are integrated into the FCWnx system, providing security operators one central location to manage alarms and video surveillance.

Smart Card Solutions and Cardholder Enrolment Module

With an increasingly competitive environment Waiariki Institute of Technology wanted to provide a high level of service and convenience to their students. Part of this initiative was to provide students with an integrated Smart Card that would not only give them access to facilities, but also allow the students to use the card for print and copy control as well as for public transport on the local bus system. RedCrater provided a modified Print Enrolment Module that facilitated the programming of bus passes and print control onto each student’s Smart Card. Read Computerworld article.

In addition, Waiariki wanted a simple way for tutors to authorise course based access to students without increasing the workload of the security staff. To support this RedCrater provided a modified version of the Cardholder Enrolment Module that allowed tutors to give students additional course-based access without requiring administration by security staff.

ESI, Remote Assistance Control, Print Enrolment Module, security system integration

St Peters Cambridge, a leading New Zealand independent secondary school, is one of the most innovative adopters of access control and alarm technology. The Gallagher Command Centre is used as the platform for a range of services over and above basic access control and alarms including timetabled access to rooms, alarm bell control and emergency lockdown support. RedCrater has assisted St Peters in their innovation by providing an Energy Security Interface (ESI) installation which now covers the majority of buildings, also student record importing into the Gallagher Command Centre System, the processing of student Smart Cards into the Equitrac print and copy control system as well as recent deployment of the Remote Assistance Control application.

Smart cards and security system integration

In 2006 New Zealand Parliament undertook a major upgrade of its security system to Cardax FT (now known as Gallagher Command Centre) which included the deployment of MIFARE® Smart Cards for all personnel. RedCrater was engaged to provide a software integration module between their corporate directory and Cardax FT. This included a rules engine for automatically provisioning access rights based on organisation unit and the automatic allocation of access cards with different types based on personnel type (e.g. temporary contractors have a visually different card layout). This system ensures all cardholder editing and changes can be done without double data entry to the Cardax FT system, which improves data quality and control around security rights. In addition, RedCrater deployed a Print Enrolment Module that supports the processing of MIFARE® Smart Cards into their Print and Copy control system.
