Electronic order processing system
Client: SuperStructure Pty Ltd (Brisbane, Australia)
To provide an easy way for their clients to submit orders and to ensure efficient
management of operations across their multiple manufacturing locations, SuperStructure
Pty Ltd commissioned RedCrater to develop an electronic order processing system.
This system now allows SuperStructure’s clients to submit orders electronically (including manufacturing plans) via the web. These orders are then automatically assigned to manufacturing locations for processing. At all times both SuperStructure clients and employees can monitor the real time status of orders in the system, and for users with sufficient privileges they can perform immediate rescheduling of orders to meet changes in their delivery priorities.
Having replaced a paper and email based system, the electronic order processing system has improved the efficiency and scalability of SuperStructure’s business. Also, because this system includes comprehensive historical reporting it has provided SuperStructure with the opportunity for increased analysis and business process optimisation.
RedCrater developed the system in Java to run on a J2EE Application Server (Apache Tomcat) utilising a MySQL database. It was designed to run on a Linux Red Hat 4.0, however we developed the system under Microsoft Windows to ensure the solution could run on multiple operating systems. RedCrater managed the deployment, configuration and upgrades of this system remotely via VPN proving that geographic location is no barrier to RedCrater successfully providing a complex solution.
